Amy Jean Shaughnessy
Amy Jean Shaughnessy was born and raised in the valley of Los Angeles. She grew up running around the soap opera sets her parents worked on and was bitten by the acting bug early. She participated in theatre all through elementary school and high school and went on to get a Bachelor of Music, in Musical Theatre, from New York University. Her favorite roles include Amy in Stephen Sondheim’s musical Company and Fantine in Les Miserables.
After traveling the world as Barbra Streisand’s script supervisor and assistant on her Back To Brooklyn tour, Amy came back to Los Angeles to work production, background, and small roles on various television shows, including “Playing House,” “The Young and the Restless,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Morning Show,” and “The Big Bang Theory.”
As a dual citizen of The United States and The United Kingdom, she spent three years in London developing a one-woman show. She was three weeks from performing the show when the pandemic shut down the world. Amy picked up her boot straps (!) and headed back to Los Angeles to focus on her career in film and television… but her first love has and will always be theatre.
She’s completed two short films in the last two years, “Play Date” and “Talia,” the latter based on her personal experience of losing her best friend in college.
Amy is very excited to be joining the Group Rep Theatre and looks forward to meeting and working with the company members and staff.
