James Castle Stevens

James Castle Stevens is a theatre director of 25+ productions and the Artistic Director of Theatricus, a nonprofit performing arts collective dedicated to the development of new work and artist-driven collaboration. His directing work has been presented at venues throughout Southern California, including MAIN Theatre, Glendale Centre Theatre, Santa Paula Theater Center, Ojai Art Center Theatre, Elite Theatre Company, Camarillo Skyway Playhouse, and High Street Arts Center.

In his role at Theatricus, James leads new play production initiatives and staged readings, including the VOX NOVA Playwright Festival, supporting emerging writers and artists. He is also a playwright himself and has recently directed his new play, Still Life in Central Park, a character-driven work developed through readings and a workshop process. Though he no longer performs as an actor, his years on stage and on screen continue to shape how he listens and collaborates in the room. James considers himself a working member of the theatre community, grateful for the chance to present plays alongside artists he trusts and admires.

Outside the theatre, he maintains his primary career as a Creative Director, a background that informs his sense of structure and visual storytelling.
